Tsk Tsk Tsk!!!!

Leisure is a wonderful thing. I realised it in the past 2 weeks while enjoying my absence from work. It feels good to lay stretched in the bed and watch some old football match wondering what to do once the match is over.

Coming back to present season:

Barcelona played like gods in the Spanish league match against Real Madrid and I have never seen Real Madrid having some 35% posession of the ball. Simply, Barcelona outperformed Real in every aspect of the game. The Ronaldinho jaggernaut just floored Real 's defence. That glaring mistake by Roberto Carlos.. what do I say about that? You dont expect that from Real Madrid.

Then came the next draw of Champions League.

Luis Figo missed a Penalty against Bayern Leverkusen. How could he afford to do that?? Wasnt he aware of the gravity of the situation? They are on the verge of being thrown out of the tournament. RMFC out of Champions League in the first stage itself. Can you imagine that???

Last year we had a boring Champions league with two worst teams Monaco and Porto reaching the finals. No...I dont want it to happen again. May some miracle send RMFC through to the next stages!!!!!

But the good news is that AC Milan struck 4 times and that too without Scheva...wow...that is something great.

Ups and Lows!!!!

Ups:

1. Real Madrid scoring 6 goals in a spanish league match.
2. AC Milan keeps winning.
3. Arsenal back to winnning.
4. Ronaldo back into roaring form with those fantastic two goals.

Lows :

1. Barcelona losing 1-2 to Real Betis.
2. India losing to Pak after scoring 292 runs.
3. The arrest of Shankaracharya of Kanchi.

Tha last one being the hardest of all. It raises the questions again. Would have they arrested a Muslim leader in the same fashion? Some Bukhari of Delhi with so many cases on his head, have they ever tried even to question him??? A congress govt with pseudo secularists and Nehruvian Stalinists as allies ...what else can you expect from them? Most of the so called " sophisticated Hindus " dont react or they are too afraid of speaking. Because they dont want to get involved in anything religious. But , what they fail to recognise is that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of Life. If the very roots of that are shaken....well can that happen???

Many times in the past , ruthless barbarians and foreign invaders tried to kill the very roots of Hinduism. That onslaught gave birth to people like Adi Shankara. They came , they inspired millions and they re-stablished the ancient "Sanatana Dharma".

Many barbarians came and looted the holy land , they all presihed but the land prevailed, the culture prevailed and it will , forever. This doesnt come from a blind faith or irrational emotion. If mankind is alive on earth , the only way it can survive is by Virtue and in harmony with nature. And , which other way of life engulfs these two tenets other than Hinduism.

Quoting Mr. Bhagwan S Gidwani

" Hinduism is the Law of life, not a dogma; its aim is not to create a creed but a character and its goal is to achieve perfection through varied spiritual knowledge which rejects nothing and yet refines everything , through continuous testing".

"....Yet a Hindu must remain strong and united, for he must know that no external , outside force can crush him, except when he is divided and betrays his own ...."

Vicious Waters!!

Water- The life giver , the fountain head of all life.....isnt this an ancient perception?? That very water has become so vicious that people get scared to drink "unknown " water.

I see some people in my office who doesnt even drink water that is availble here in the office premises. This water is certified by diff govt bodies as fit for human consumption. Still, people dont want to take risk. They drink only boiled water or mineral water. They are so health conscious that they dont even eat sweets and some other fat rich food. I really wonder at their capacity to control taste buds. I cant resist a sweet ...I just tield to the temptation.

But, most amazing thing is these health conscious , clean water conscious people gulp bottles of alcohol without any second thought. A life on earth which is scarred of water and assured about the good effects of Alcohol.

Itz cool to drink...I hear this many times. What do I do? I am a tee-to-taler who doesnt know the good effects of alcohol and not much about escorting home a girl who is drunk ;-)

I can write pages about this topic...but ..drinking is a personal choice..everyone has their own opinions.....after all everything is personal choice...what is nota personal choice????

Our friendly TOI is lamenting that the sales of alcohol has decreased in Bangalore this year when compared with last year. Dont worry, our Bangalore Times will come up with more photos regulary of many so called " celebrities " with "drinks " in their hands and write "cool " things about them. So, the " wanna be " cool people will gulp more and more alcohol meanwhile helping the brewery business to grow.

I wish all of you a very happy Deepavali ( southindian) or Diwali ( North Indian istyle ;-) .

He is Back!!

Mr. Bush is back to the presidency. The world will hear more of "fight against evil " and " peace in middle east " withouot bothering why the crude prices are going north. Unites States of America like Queen in an Ant Colony. All the ants feed it so that the Queen is healthy and kicking. In a similar way, economically, the entire world is completely dependent on US of A . The entire world is working hard to keep US of A wealthy and happy. We have already seen what happens to the world if something happens to US of A. At the same time world should be watchful about who is formulating the policies of US of A. Because the presidential seat of US of A has always been like a stone in a madmans' hand. An unbroken chain of Paranoid presidents have wreacked havoc on the world and made it what is it today.

In the context of this , Mr. Bush is worse than any of his predecessors. His war mongerness is the reason he won the elections again. Nothing can beat the insecurity feeling of an American.

Our politicians reaffirm the people that Indo-US relations would be good as usual. But a keen observer has his own doubts. Were they good ever??

What should India do? We need to get away with this US dependency on outsourcing, textiles and in whatever way possible. We should look for avenues where we are self sufficient not only agriculturally but also technologically. India has never been an innovative country but Indians are. Many great inventions that happened in US of A involved many outstanding Indians. Hope India can retain the domestic talent and nurture it towards its own prosperity.

When a rich man has granades along with money, it is better to keep away from his money.

Back to Football

The Barca Vs AC Milan Champions league match was a spectacle in itself. A new god of Football is making his intentions clear. Ronaldinho , the way he inspired Barca to win against Milan was awesome. If you can break the defense guarded by Maldini, Nesta and Cafu twice...you achieved some thing really great.

Rudd Van Nistelrooy made amends to his disgraceful taclke of Ashely Cole at Old Trafford by a record equalling 4 goals in a single match.

Real Madrid are scoring well but they are conceding. I think they need to address that issue.

Tha Champions League is geting hotter as it should.

The Unknown!!!!!

every now and then a fire rages from the depths of a futile weariness; ever hungry to eat away
whatever comes in its way but rejecting each and every offering that tries to calm it down;the
inferno breaks free and kills all the existing tenets of life and existence;it is accentuated by
the perptual feeding of what? where? why? where from?; a colony of grey cells powered by a
conscience without a known source, try thousands of extrapolations to check the advance of the
inferno...alas...the grey cells soon realize that the inferno is more rational than anythings
else they come across...
a flash of liberation appears but it blinds the eyes with its brightness; meanwhile the grey
cells realise that they already lost time in the race to unknown goal; never knowing where , why
, what for...
an illusiory marker demarcates knowledge from ignorance; never asks knowledge of what? but the
race is never ending, full of baits and mirages...in the name of subduing the inferno...the grey
cells mistake the mirage to be a river ..the fountain head of life..
existence for the sake of existence...running for the sake of running...a reality that is like an
illusion or an illusion that is like a reality...
a state of weariness, confusion camouflaged by a sense of knowing, groping in the dark
misunderstood as journey towards perfection...
chaos ...utter chaos...but ignorance is bliss...the grey cells just ignore the chaos and this
gives birth to another chaos..
a fusion or fission of the spirit;road to perfection or the road to perdition...

Yesssss....I wrote it....but still dont understand what I wanted to write and what I ended up with...

Torn apart!!!!!

I want to do so many things, at the same time dont want to even think of many other things.
I like to do this, this, that ,.....so many other things...which one should I do first??? will I be able to do all these at all?? with all these thouoghts in my mind, I think of writing something...but the interest dies off in seconds because I want to do something else...eventually I end up doing nothing....many things are half done and they need to be completed...there is no time to do all these things...errr....I should say I am too lazy to strecth myself to make all these effots...it is not a case of " there is no inherent zeal to do all these things" .....

only good thing I am doing these days is reading. 2 hrs of bus journey everyday is facilitating this good habit of reading books. I am lost in this book related to Aryans and their origin. Finished some chapters and the books seems to be worthy of investing some time....

You wish many things to happen the way you wanted it ....but it cant happen that way always....
one needs to accept reality and go on with it...I wanted Arsenal to thrash ManU but..some shameless and pathetic refereing saw Gunners being thrashed by ManU....hope that the retrun match will be good and Gunners will come backl with their guns blazing and thrash ManU....

However, Real Madrid is cruising along...they are on the way back to their for and Michael Owen is learning to play with all the other superstars....the icing on the cake is that Ronaldo started scoring......

and, Barca....what do I say abt them??? Some conventional football wisdom says that if you like Real Madrid you should hate Barca evn though they play well....

well...I cant do that when I see one of my fav players Ronaldinho giving some classical touches....he is a footballing genius...no doubt about that......

I dont like the present ManU team but I like Christiano Ronaldo....he is another Figo in the making...I see a propspect for Real Madrid...

Cominig back to my lost love....that is Indian Cricket...I dont want to write about it...because simply there is nothing to write. The Indian cricket team seems to be lost in some wilderness where there is nothing like "professional Cricket " exists. Well, hope that good days will return to Indian Cricket!!!!!

The world is getting ready to witness another farce . A tussle between two great fools to test who is the bigger fool. Yeah...I am talking abt US presedential elections. How does the end result matter? Every US president is hungry for Oil and human lives irrespective of whether he is democrat or a republican. But the real jokers British. You should see the way Tony Blair is reacting to US Presidential elections. Man...these Brits are ......I dont have words to describe the utter contempt I have for this contry. They are the people who have sold their souls....it reminds me of the story of Dr Faustus and Mephistophilus. Now US is on the verge of deciding who is going the be the next Mephistophilous....either Bush or Kerry.....

Back to Books!

Davinci Code - Dawn Brown
The Alchemist - Paul @#$%% ( I cant pronounce this guys' name )
The Wisdom of Rishis - Mr. M
The Indian Philosophy - Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

These are the books I finished reading in the last 4 weeks. The collection seems pretty strange, isn't it?
Davinci code is another mystique bullshit with lot of rhetoric about some unknown Mary Magdalene. The author says that worship of this lady is superior to the worship of Christ, couldnt understand why. But, the main plot is to damn the catholic church and prove that they kill people to maintain the sanctity of the Church. An utter bullshit to increase the sale.

The Alchemist : I couldnt understand why this book has become so famous. It is again some unpractical and utopian thought about everyones' childhood dreams and some legend ( I dont even remember the name ). It is one of those utter nonsensical books which I have read and regreted later that I wasted my time.

The Wisdom of Rishis : Yes, a great book. I really enjoyed reading it. Inspite being a muslim, the author tried to understand the Upanishads and give incites in to various subtlities. He doesnt talk about things which are nihilistic...but speaks about real things and explains why they are real. There is content and the logic is concrete. I suggest this book to people who have some interest in Indian Scriptures.

The Indian Philosophy : Disappointing!!! very disappointing. Dr. Radhakrishanan disappointed me a lot. He wrote a book which will satisfty the Europeans a lot. He presented a European point of view rather than an Indian point of view. He depended on European authors to prove the facts, which are ultimately not facts at all. Especially , he repeats the Aryans' migration from Europe or middle east to India. It really makes me wonder, how much are we conditioned to accept the precepts put forward by Europeans.

If such a great culture existed in so called Mesapatomia or any where else and they migrated to India for various reasons, why dont we see any trace of such civilisation or culture in any part of those countries or continents. Even the latest findings about river Saraswati and other Indus valley civilisations tell us that there was no invasion of India by so called Aryans. This is again another trick of the White Man to belittle India and its ancient civilisation to keep his inferiority or superiority complex intact.

Yeah, nationality matters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a letter from a German national to the editior of TOI.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/875870.cms

Apropos of 'It's time we learnt good manners' (Times Counterview, Oct 5), it seems fashionable for the Indian elite to run down India and all things Indian, including manners. I am a German, and have met many Indians who never tire of praising Germany, but have nothing good to say about India. Frankly, I recoil at such behaviour. There are well-mannered and uncouth people everywhere. Why do Indian intellectuals have to pick on the worst specimens to berate India. As far as I'm concerned, India stands tall among the 40 countries I have travelled to.

Maria Wirth, via e-mail.

Had this letter been from an Indian, it would be in a distbin by this time ( errr...recycle bin).

Ofcoure, whatever Ms. Maria says is true. Indians never had self respect, esp the so called Secularists and Intellectuals. For them , anything White is superior and anything Indian is cheap. Sad that this has to be taught to us by some foreigner. Yeah, our Intellectuals listen to the words of foreigners becase Europeans are wiser than us...they know all...isnt it true my dear Editiors of TOI??

Ofcourse Eurpoeans and Americans do not show any repect towards India, nuthing surprising because we dont have self respect. We equate self respect with Religious Fundamentalism....:-D
When an American is proud of being an American , it is his self respect whereas if an Indian is proud of being Indian either he is an RSS( VHP) follower or someother religious fundamentalist.

Way to go India.........................

Marketing sympathy as a Camouflage!!!!!

It is quite surprising to see how good are Americans at exploiting a tragedy to camouflage thier ulterior motives. Was just going through an article by one of my favourite columnists Rajiv Srinivasana.
http://in.rediff.com/news/2004/sep/28rajeev.htm

When the towers fell, I certainly hoped that the US would finally understand what the rest of the world, particularly India, has undergone for years, facing terror in the streets. But I was a little sceptical even then; and three years later, it is clear that America's 'war on terror' is really not a war on terror as in the dictionary meaning of those words. This alleged 'war' is a different animal, and there are two possibilities as to what it is.
The first possibility is that 'terror' is defined as 'that which hurts American interests.' Note that this does not necessarily mean attacks on American persons except insofar as it affects grand American interests. Note also that 'American interests' are broadly defined, for example as in 'oil that lies under other countries, but that America would like to own.' But it certainly means that attacks on other countries, even on the one that for archaic reasons calls itself 'Great' Britain, do not count as 'terror.'
The other possibility is that there is no 'war' at all, but sleight-of-hand, intended to create the illusion that America is doing something to protect its people. For, it is abundantly clear that the nations most involved in terror are Saudi Arabia (financier), Pakistan (enforcer) and China (proliferator of nuclear weapons and missiles). But all three are staunch American allies. I wonder, which Houdini conjured up a 'war'?

Recently, when many school children were killed in a terrorist attack in Russia,

the Economist magazine, had to say about the matter (Another Siege Ends in Bloodshed, September 4, 2004).
Among other things, it says the following:
The Chechen issue is a local problem, not a global one
The separatist struggle results in part from past cruelty shown by Stalin to Chechens
'Black widows', Chechen women whose relatives were killed by Russian forces, are a major part of this attack
The Russian security forces made a mistake, again, as they are incompetent
Russia should seek a 'political solution' to this problem

I liked the answer Mr. Putin gave

"Why don't you meet Osama bin Laden, invite him to Brussels or to the White House and engage in talks, ask him what he wants and give it to him so he leaves you in peace? You find it possible to set some limitations in your dealings with these bastards, so why should we talk to people who are child-killers"

Are you listening Mr.Bush?, Ohh...if you listen also you wont understand. This is all too much for your miniscule cerebellem...all you know is Oil and Dollars at the expense of human lives.

"Fan"aticism - Redefined!!!!!

Have been a sports freak right from childhood. Played cricket like more than 6 hrs a day till my 10th standard. When it rained..the obvious choice was Football. Never knew any rules of the game other than penalty and corner kicks. As I grew up, I developed lot of interest in the game and read about many legendary players. Then came ESPN and Star Sports and gave a chance to watch the beautiful game. I used to get a glimpse of my fav player " The Legendary Diego Maradono" only once or twice on DD. But, ESPN and Start sports provided the chance to see some other great talents.

As I started watching European Leagues regularly, I started liking some of the teams because of some great players. Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, ManUnited and most recently Arsenal.

But, recently I happened to know about some new definitions of "supporters" or " fans".
If you like one team, you should support them irrespective of the way the play. This is normal and acceptable.

With the slew of "f" words and "b" words into India, the "fan"aticisim took new shapes. People started hating any team other than the team they support. They started abusing players who play for other teams. Someone went to the extent of defining a " fan" as an opposition basher rather than supporter of their own team. This reminds me of the incident that happened last year when Figo shifted to Real Madrid from Barcilona.

So, I wonder whether it is the frustration that the team they like is losing or not playing well at that moment. The self proclaimed fans are ending up with only one option " name calling". I still wonder when would I see genuine fans who could appreciate the greatness of the opposition.

Coming back to the weekend football...

What more would I say about Gunners in this season. The 4-0 win against Charlton Athletic says it all. Henry was in fantastic touch.

But, ManU disaapointed ( again, it is not that you should like either Arsenal or ManU. They are not mutually exclusive. :D )
It still beats me what happened to RvN. He missed almost all the brilliant passes of CrN. Boyy, CrN was a class, I see another Figo in the making. Great going for the youngster.

Real Madrid lost once again in the Spanish League , this time to Deportivo. Praying god that they wont lose any game this season. What happened to the fire that was there in the Champions League match against As Roma?

Desaffronisation of Textbooks- some suggestions :D

" We want to desffronise the textbooks " quoted some old jerk in the paper. I have some suggestions for him.
1. Let us teach our kids that India was occupied by British becaue Bible teaches them to serve other humanbeings and British took the onus of improving the poor in India. So, whatever we are today is because of the great deeds done by the British and Italians ( Ma'am Sonia is still extending her great services to our country)

2. Let us tell our kids that calling yourself Hindu is fundamentalism. You should be ashamed of being a Hindu because you are in India which is a democricy and you should respect other religions who ll ultimately kill you. When a person of other religion kills a Hindu, he freed the earth of a fundamentalist. Where as a Hindu ( you never know who is the killer ) kills someone else, you shoule ask UN and US of A to interfere. Entire world will support you.

3. Let us write in our text books that Hinduism is full of superistitions where as others are purely rationsl. One of them is a fatherless child and another one is formless. Yes, how can a God have parents. Doesnt it make sense?

4. Let us write in our text books that there is nothing called Indus Valley Civilisation and River Saraswati. It is only that some of the foreign tribes came to this place and we are all successors of Europeans.

5. Let us teach them that Muslim kings like Moghuls developed India by making Hindus pay tax for growing hair. Obviously, they made you cut your hair.

6. Let us teach them that nothing much has happened during the reign of Guptas, Chalukyas and Pandyas. They were mere local kings. Assuming that Samudragupta spread his emprire from Himalayas to Malasia is Hindu fundamentalism and it might hurt our Eurpoean and Muslim brothers.

7. Let us dedicate more chapters about "new" religions ( it still beats me why this old jerk used the word "new") like Christianity and Islam. Bachhon, Christian missionaries give us money to do all these things. Isnt money important in our lives ???

8. Let us not mention anything about Vedas, Mahabharatha and Ramayana in History books. The children might believe it. How can any man on earth can compose something like Vedas.
Human beings can compose only things like Bible, Khoron etc.

9. Let us teach our kids that Bhagath Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose , Chandra Sekhar Azad etc are terrorists and they tried killing our Eurpoean brothers.

10. Let us not mention the Jallian walah Bagh incident in our text books. It might make our children hate Britishers.
Here we have another option. The Jallian Walah Bagh incident might not have happened. Our Brtish friends are good Christians who go to Church everyday. So, they couldnot have killed so many people. The incident might have been cooked up by Hindu Fundamentalists.

11. Let us tell them that VHP and RSS are terrrorist organisations where as Hizbul -Muzahuddin, Al Quaida , Laskhar -e- Toiba and CIA etc are all Charitable organisations who show people the way to repsectable deaths.

12. Let us teach them that US of A is the only country in the world that is without any religious fundamentalists. What all they care about is the prosperity, their welfare plans transend boundaries.
E.g. Look at countries like Iraq. They were ruled by people like Saddam and US of A release the country out of his clutches. Now Iraq is a free coountry with lot of Peace and organised way living. Let us encourage US of A to do some more Iraqa. Who has Oil, next????

Let our kids be ashamed that they are Hindus( Fundamentalists ).
Let us invite our brothers from Vatican to baptise all the people in India. After all Hinduism is a dangerous faith, let us convert the Brahmins first rather than the backward classes.

Any missionaries listening???...Can you do it??

Midweek Mazaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It cant get anyting better than this. It is worth staying awake till 2 AM on the Wednesday morning. A Champions League football match that saw the return of the Lions.Yes, Real Madrid roared back to form with a 4-2 win over Italians AS Roma. In another match, the English giants ManU thrashed the Turkish Champs with 6-2 win.

The Real Madrid team looked like they were going to lose again after the conceded 2 early goals. But the Legends didnt give up this time. They came back with vengence. The second half was completely dominated by the Champs as the ball hardly crossed Reals' midfield. Raoul scored twice in his own class, but you should watch Luis Figo. He was in a class of his own. The way he criscrossed through the AS Roma defence is a joy to watch. Then, the Master , he showed some extraordinary ways of balancing the ball and some of the best passes.

Withstanding the boos from the fans, the Brazilian superstar showed his class in that goal scoring free kick. It just zoomed past the defenders and the goalkeeper. Ronaldo tried a lot but he seemed to be tired. I think he is preserving his appetite for the forthcoming matches. They were looking like scoing some 10 goals. Though some pathetic refereeing lessened the charm, it was real real great football.

In another match, which was a no doubt joy to watch , ManU's debutant Wayne Rooney entertained everyone. This boy had a great debut. 3 goals in a match, that too in your debut match is not everyone can do. But, what amazed me most was where was cRn ( Christiano Ronaldo). How can you make a player like CRN to sit on a bench Sir Fergie?
The old guard Giggs started the attack with a superb header, but I give the full credit of that goal to Kleberssons' great run. That was simply amazing. The legendary RvN chipped in with his trademark goal, mind you that he was all there to help Rooney score goals. The teenager obliged.

I could not watch some of the other matches on Thursday early morning.

AC Milan won 2-0 against celtics,
Chelsea won 3-1 against last yr champions Porto,
Barca won 3-0.

I was a bit disapointed that Gunners could only manage to draw their match.

Champions league is getting hotter.

They have done it again!!!!

Yeah, Real Madrid have done it again. They lost 1-2 to Athletic Bilbao. I was out of Banglore for Saturday and missed lot of sporting action in the weekend.
Real lost their 2nd Spanish League match.
Arsenal, ManU and Chelsea manged to win the matches in EPL.
Everton pulled some blinder to climb to the 3rd slot.
AC Milan, after a loss, came back well and won the match against Lazio 2-1.

And, Ferrari continued the domination of F1 though Schumi disappointed a bit. But, what a circuit ..boyyyy...it was real tough to drive in those hair-pin curves and dangerous too.

History is Written by Victors errr...Survivors!!!!

27th of September , marks the birthday of Sardar Bhagath Singh. Every year 2nd October and 14th Noverber are celebrated all around the country with much hype , marking the birthdays of two so called " Freedom Fighters".
So, what did Bhagath Singh fight for? What did he die for? How many people can go and fight the enemy who is much more stronger than you? How many people can take the brave step of giving up life for the sake of ideals?

He has done all that and he isnt even remembered now. Our children are taught in textbooks that India got its freedom because of the sacrifces made by Mahathma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. So, what about the people who made it thier life's battle rather than sitting for Rountable Conferences and tea parties with the Britishers?

British could dare to kill Bhagath Singh and Chandrasekhar Azad. But why didnt they even try to injure Gandhi and Nehru?

Yes, they were never a threat to the Britishers. They could not stop britishers from looting the country, they never objected the way Britishers ruled the country and more over they "begged" Britishers to leave the country. So, Britishers found friends in then rather than foes.

The case of Bhagath Singh, ChandraSekhar Azad , Alluri Seetharama Raju and Veera Savarkar are different. They could have killed all the Britishers in the country. They could have got us independence much before 1947, they could have got independence to couontry which was not divided on a " Hindu -Muslim Bhai Bhai " notion, they could have got independence to a country without a J& K issue....and more importantly, they could have got independence to a Braver and Bolder India.

You cannot preach and practise Non- Violence when the other guy is bludgeoning you and draining you out. Ofcourse , he will leave you once he sucked all the life from you. But you cant afford to fool yourself that your enemy gave in to your perseverence and non-violence.

I would ve felt proud of being living in an Independent India that achieved Independence by the efforts of people like Bhagath Singh , Subhas Chandra Bose, Alluri Seetharamaraju, Chandra Sekhar Azad and Veer Savarkar.

Yes, the history is written by survivors who are just like any other human being. They have their own Prejudices.

Conditioned to accept sleaze

The great Times Of India is successful in making the urban population accept sleaze as a part of daily lives. The aptly names editions " Bangalore Times", " Hyderabad Times" etc are nothing less than any tabloids. They already have mags like "Filmfare" " Femina" etc from the same publishing house which are dedicated to sleaze and soft porn. But, this great publishing house is in the hunt for more by making people believe that it is actually not sleaze.
It came to such levels that people dont like TOI yet they dont have any other option.
The Hindu which can be called a Newspaper is Chennai centric and you dont find it covering the news around your localities.Again, many other bignames in the paper industry lack something or the else. This helped the TOI to penetrate its roots into the urban life. On a personal level I stopped looking at this paper for the past 2 months. There is hardly any news.

The Central govt presents budget and this paper comes out with Bollywood parodies to analyse the budget. They come up with brillaint ideas like " Do you think it is time for Saching Tendulkar to retire from Cricket?" " Do you think Bipashabasu and Mallika Sherawath should be awarded Bharath Ratna for their generosity of showing skin?"

As one of the communist leaders has put it " Media is supposed voice the concerns of people reg various social issues". We have media such as this on one side and a Congress govt on the other side . Added to it is the " I am cool " generation which only knows about Bryan Adams , LOTR, Harry Potter etc... You talk about social issues to any urban youngster and he would say " Hey Chill man, why do you bother about those f***ing issues. Chill and enjoy your life "

I think India deserves something better than this.

Strange!!!!

Yeah, it is really strange. People write update their blogs when they can take out sometime ffrom their busy routines. But, I feel like writing here when I am too much caught up with work, when there are many unfinished things and when people are waiting for something to come from me. At this moment, my boss is waiting for two reports and a ppt from me. In the middle of preparing that ppt a thought stuck my mind " why dont I write something on the blog?" and here I am. My mind might be looking for variety other than the monotonus excel sheets and outlook mailers.

I just read about the IIML student who committed a Suicide , supposedly, while experimenting different ways of hanging self. Ofcourse my heart feels for his family but I was a bit stunned at the conception of his idea, though none knows what prompted him to take such grisly decision.
May his soul rest in peace.

The BCCI is in the lookout for a channel which can broadcast the coming Ozzie tour. I have a piece of advice for them. Why dont they setup a "benami" channel for ESPN -Star and give them all the rights. Howz the idea???

Thursday, September 23, 2004

Out! Out! the Ozzies are out!!!

You dont see this too often. That too a team, which is drubbed by the Aussies some consecutive 14 times , thrashing Aussies out of Champions trophy. It is actually good for Aussies. They will come back with vengence like a hurt lion. Indians beware.
Ahoyyy, Pakis are out of the trophy. I am actually happy about it. They played like fools.
Now we are going to witness a final between boring Englishmen and the underdogs WestIndies.
I expect WestIndies to zip past the Englishmen.

This series tells us something interesting that the teams from the Subcontinent are the most inconsistent and unreliable. You never know how they approach their game.
Ozzies lose their games only when the opposition plays better than them. But in the case of the teams from the subcontinent, it is the 2nd worst player who wins. Simply put, they lose because they play the worst possible cricket. They dont lose matches because the opposition played some better cricket.

Enough of this Cricket....now back to Football...

Real Madrid is back to winning after the 1-0 win in Spanish League, but the class was really missing. They need to do somethinking about what actually is missing.
Another warnign to the Real that Valencia's win over Deportivo that too a 5-1 win is something alarming.
Come on Real Come on!!!

You dont see this often!!!

Yes, you dont see England beating Australia in Cricket that often. England drubbed the Aussie Jaggernaut with a comprehensive victory.Australia is out of Champions triphy and the boring English will play the winner of Windies Vs Pakis match.
Is this loss one of those rare aberrations or a beginning to the end of Aussie domination? Though I dont think it is the latter. The so called 2nd best oneday team , I meant India , is already out of the championship and now it is the turn of the best team in the world.
I pray for Windies to come to finals and thrash England in the finals. To be frank, I want Pakis to be out of the tournament ;-)
Tradition tells us that England will not win the finals. So, either Windies or the Pakis will be the new Champions.

Real Saves Face

Huh, finally Real Madrid did not manage to lose against another "also ran" team. They won the match 1-0 with the help of a trademark Beckham free kick but the class was not there. They played like any other club. They should have scored atleast 5 goals against such teams, such is their class. Waiting for them to play atleast 70% of their potential, no other team is even 50% of their potential.

Come on Real .....

Is it Real???????????????????

Yet another defeat in the hands of Spanish league minnows. Yes, it happened again. The great RMFC ( Real Madrid Football Club) lost 0-1 to Espanyol. They dont have Zidane and Figo this time but what was the need to play Michael Owen in place of Raoul. Raoul was made to sit on the bench as a penalty for the defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. Silly, I would say.

Adding insult to the injury, two players were sent off leaving only 9 members to play. Hardly they had any players who can make some difference. Zidane, Figo, Raoul, Morientes ( though he was sent in after the 65th min) missing. Hell with Beckham and Michael Owen, Ronaldo is left without any support from any side.

I think it is hightime they realise that a bunch of legendary stars dont make a great team. They need to play upto their potential. You can not lose against sides like Espanyol.
What is happening to this great club which has won the UEFA Champions League for a record number of 9 times.

Zidane, Ronaldo, Raoul, Figo, Morientes...I want to see all of them at their rocking best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Red are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya...ManU is back to winning matches. The win against the arch rivals Liverpool is a good confidence booster for Sir Alex's team which has been in a lean patch this season.
This guy Christina Ronaldo shows lot of promise. I think he is another RvN in the making. He is not hyped like David Beckham or Michale Owen but he has superb skills which are really awesome. Though not an ardent fan of ManU I like players who really are a class apart. There are two from this ManU team.
The nice Rudd Van Nistelrooy and Christian Ronaldo. People might talk about Smith, Rooney or someone else but these two are class aprt. It might be that their Dutch and Portugal origin has to do with it.

Expecting ManU to continue their roaring form so that we can watch a great Arsenal Vs Manu match....boyyyyy....it will be a joy to watch....
